Bazzy Aims To 'Work On Sprucing Up The East Dearborn Business Corridor'
David Bazzy is seeking a seat on Dearborn's city council. He wants to work on the business climate in town.

DEARBORN, MI — Tuesday’s primary election is an important one in Dearborn. Voters will be asked to select single candidates for mayor and clerk to run in November’s general election. Likewise, more than a dozen candidates are vying for seven seats on city council.
Patch recently sent questions to the candidates. The idea is for the candidates to introduce themselves and their ideas to voters. We will start our coverage off on Friday with a look at three city council candidates. More candidates will follow on Sunday and Monday.
What follows is a verbatim transcript of the questions and answers from candidate David W. Bazzy, who is seeking a city council slot:

Why are you running for City Council?
I am running for city council to continue the progress we have created in multiple areas across the city. Those would be the major improvements in the downtown business corridor, inclusive of major developments, new restaurants, new lofts, family friendly activities, and a continuing renewed interest by national chains in Dearborn, all due in part by the drive to spruce up Michigan avenue 4 years ago. In recreation, new splash-pads, playground equipment, the first new neighborhood pool in 45 years, and improving the recreational activities in the city. Neighborhood demolition of sub standard homes are up, and ordinance enforcement is improving across the city. Spearheaded legislation to limit the hookah bars in Dearborn and required licensing. The council has been more productive and it is because of the ability of our lets put the city first agenda, that I wish to continue, not the what's my career path agenda.

What are your top priorities for your term if you win?
My top priorities are to finish what we have started in west Dearborn, the new streetscape on Michigan avenue must be done correctly in order to maintain the momentum created the past 4 years. In Neighborhoods we must sit with the administration and stress the need for increased community patrols, and more vigilant patrols in our neighborhood parks. We must work with realtors and educate new buyers on the rules of Dearborn's neighborhoods and then use the tools available to manage those rules. We must work on sprucing up the east Dearborn business corridor as well as the Warren avenue corridor. Lastly we must re establish the rental task force to create a rental platform, that clearly rewards good landlords, and defines the path for alleviating neighborhoods of bad landlords
