Dirt Bike Rider Killed In Dearborn Crash: Police

Investigators believe speed the rider's speed was a factor in the crash.​

DEARBORN, MI — A 24-year-old Detroit man was killed in a dirt bike crash last Friday in Dearborn, according to police.

The crash happened at 2:58 p.m. Friday in the area of Tireman Ave and Anthony Street on the Dearborn/Detroit border, according to police.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man unconscious with a head injury, according to police.

Officials with a private ambulance service provided aid and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Investigators said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Additionally, they believe the rider's speed was a factor in the crash.

"Our hearts go out to the rider’s family in this tragic incident. We thank the emergency responders for their quick action at the scene, and intend to complete a thorough investigation. We continue to urge caution and adherence to traffic safety laws on our roads," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said.
