Dog With 200 Puncture Wounds Found; Reward Offered For Info
A $1,000 reward is being offered for anyone that can help give information on whoever stabbed a dog more than 200 times.
DEARBORN, MI — The Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit (FAMD) is offering a $1000 reward for information that helps prosecute the person who abused a mixed breed female dog, stabbing her more than 200 times, according to the organization. The stray dog was brought to FAMD for treatment and assistance on Tuesday by the Dearborn Police.
“This dog has more than 200 puncture wounds, some fresh and some that probably occurred over the last few months, and was most likely used as bait in dog fights,” said Dr. Jeffrey Disik, of Lincoln Park Veterinary Hospital, which is caring for the medical needs of the dog. “She also has bacterial infections in several areas. Thankfully, she is recovering nicely and will be returned to FAMD in the next day or two.”
According to FAMD Executive Director Elaine Greene, the shelter is already at capacity, but they felt they had to help this dog.

“How could we say no to this poor animal even though the shelter is completely full with other adoptable animals?,” she said. “She has tubes all over her body now but she’s clearly a survivor. We’ve named her Emlyn which is an English name for a brave and noble warrior.”
Greene describes the dog as “very sweet,” despite the “horrific nature” of her injuries and said Emlyn is very trusting of people.
