Ford Adds F-150 Responder To Police Fleet Vehicles
The Ford F-150 Responder is aimed at rural police agencies.

DEARBORN, MI — For years, Ford Motor Company vehicles have been the gold standard for police departments across the country. From Interceptor sedans and sports utilities to the Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle, police fleets have relied on the Dearborn automaker. Now Ford is adding a new option, primarily aimed at rural law enforcement and border patrol agencies — the 2018 Ford F-150 Police Responder.
Performance related features include a police-calibrated brake system, all-terrain tires and 18-inch alloy rims as well as space for up to five passengers. Ford says the vehicle is performance-rated for speeds up to 100 mph and is durable enough for both on-road and off-road situations.
“Ford’s 2018 F-150 Police Responder is the perfect all-terrain law enforcement vehicle,” said Stephen Tyler, Ford’s police brand marketing manager.

The Police Responder is based on the F-150 FX4 off-road model. It uses a high-strength steel frame and Ford’s aluminum-alloy SuperCrew body. Beyond the cost of the vehicle, which Ford didn’t reveal, the Responder comes ready to be up-fitted with police lights and other equipment.
