Fourth Man Arrested In Shooting That Killed Dearborn Florist: Police

Officials made the arrest after learning new information earlier this month, according to police.​​​​

DEARBORN, MI — A fourth man has been charged in connection with the 2023 fatal shooting of a Dearborn business owner, according to police.

Hassan Salame, owner of Lama's Florist in Dearborn, was walking to his car with another person outside a restaurant near Ford Road and Greenfield at 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 19, 2023 when he was ambushed by two people and shot, according to police.

Salame, 29, was taken to Corewell Hospital, where he died, according to police.

A woman who was with him was not injured in the shooting, according to police.

Police believe the shooting was random.

Officers quickly arrested Lindsay Thurmond, 29, and Quenton Goston, 31, in connection with the shooting, according to police.

A third suspect, 26-year-old Devon Travon Green was arrested a few days after the shooting at Detroit Metro Airport while preparing to board an out-of-state flight, according to police.

Now, officers have arrested 35-year-old Dawanne Midgett, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting. Officials made the arrest after learning new information earlier this month, according to police.

Midgett was placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond.

All four men face a murder charge and could spend up to life in prison if convicted. Midgett faces charges including armed robbery, conspiracy and four counts of felony firearm.

A jury trial for the other defendants, Devon Travon Green, Lindsay Thurmond and Quenton Goston, was originally scheduled for this month, but has now been adjourned pending Midgett's court proceedings, according to police.

"These charges reflect our department’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for victims and their families. We will continue to pursue and hold accountable those responsible for violent crimes in our city. I want to commend our investigative team for their dedication and countless hours of work to ensure every suspect in this case was brought to justice," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said.
