League of Women Voters Hosts Author Nabeel Abraham

Nabeel Abraham, director of the Honors Program at Henry Ford Community College, will speak at the luncheon following the annual meeting of the League of Women Voters Dearborn – Dearborn Heights.

The event will take place at Habib’s Cuisine (formerly City Tavern), 14316 Michigan Ave., in Dearborn, at 12:30 p.m. on June 8.

Dr. Abraham co-edited the book "Arab Detroit 9/11: Life in the Terror Decade," published by the Wayne State University Press in 2011. The recent recipient of the Choice Outstanding Academic Book Award, the book “chronicles the trauma, unexpected political gain and moral ambiguities faced by Arab Americans in Detroit in a post-9/11 world."

Habib’s will serve the luncheon family-style. Checks for $25 per person should be made out to LWVDDH and sent to 120 N. Military St., Dearborn, MI. 48124.

The public is also invited to the league's annual meeting, which begins at 11 a.m. It is an opportunity to learn what the league has accomplished over the last year and what is being planned for the coming year.
