Naked Man Arrested for Gross Indecency in Dearborn

A 50-year-old Dearborn man was arrested for gross indecency after admitting to sitting nude on the porch of a home in the 2000 block of Hawthorne Street.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the area of Ford and Hawthorne streets on June 21 in response to complaints that a naked man was masturbating on the porch of a home.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the mother of a 14-year-old Dearborn Heights resident, who informed police that her son spotted the naked man while walking home from a friend's house in the 5000 block of Rose Circle.

The boy told police that while he was walking southbound on the west side of Hawthorne around 9:30 p.m., he noticed the man "playing with himself," the report states.

When officers asked what that meant, the boy told police that the suspect was naked and masturbating on his porch. When the suspect noticed the boy, he ran up the driveway toward the rear of the house, police said.

The 14-year-old returned to his friend's house and told his mom, who called 911. The boy's friend informed officers that he also witnessed the man watering his lawn fully nude months earlier but was afraid to tell anyone.

Dearborn Police made contact with the suspect, who admitted to sitting on his porch in his underwear, but denied being completely nude. Upon further questioning, the man admitted to disrobing and sitting naked on his porch, but denied masturbating. According to police reports, the man told officers that he suffers from a compulsive behavior to disrobe in public.

The man was arrested for gross indecency and taken to the Dearborn Police Department for booking.
