1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Wrong-Way Fiery Crash On Detroit Freeway: Police
Police said a Jeep was moving the wrong-way on the freeway early Friday morning when it collided head-on with an SUV.

DETROIT — One person was killed in an overnight wrong-way head-on fiery crash on a Detroit freeway, according to Michigan State Police.
A Jeep was moving north in the southbound lanes on the Lodge Freeway near Grand River Avenue in Detroit at 4:30 a.m. Friday when it smashed into an SUV, which then caught fire, according to police.
Troopers tried to get into the SUV, but they couldn’t because it was engulfed in flames, according to police.

When firefighters put out the blaze, troopers found the driver dead, according to police.
Troopers were able to pull a 27-year-old woman from the driver’s seat of the Jeep, according to police.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition, according to police.
There were no passengers in either car, according to police.
Investigators do not know why the Jeep was moving the wrong way on the freeway.
"The crash reconstructionist is on scene investigating the crash," Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said. "We are attempting to determine where the wrong-way driver entered the roadway and where she was coming from."
