2 Detroit Teens Charged As Adults In Murder Of Uber Driver
Officials said two Detroit teens attacked an Uber driver with a hammer before robbing and stabbing him, eventually leaving him in an alley.
DETROIT — Two Detroit teens have been arrested and are accused of killing a 60-year-old Uber driver, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday morning.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Devin Delon McKee, 16, and Lanyah Quan Brady, 15, have been charged as adults in the murder of Timothy Marcus Pekins, an Uber driver from Southfield.
McKee and Brady each are charged with one count of first-degree felony murder, carjacking and armed robbery causing serious injury, prosecutors said. McKee and Brady are expected to be arraigned Friday morning in 36th District Court, according to prosecutors.

“It is rare that we use the automatic waiver to charge juveniles as adults," Worthy said Friday. "But the alleged facts in this case are especially heinous and violent. The evidence in this case will show that these defendants called an Uber with a plan to rob and carjack the driver, beat and bludgeoned him, and left him in an alley to die.”
Detroit police were called to the West Edsel Ford Service Drive and Elmer Street around 9:20 a.m. on Jan. 21 where they found Perkins in an alleyway, bleeding from his head and with multiple stab wounds to his back and torso area, prosecutors said. He was taken to a local hospital where he died, according to prosecutors.
