AG, SOS Investigating Robocall To ‘Intimidate’ Black Voters

The call, received by Detroiters, claims personal information of residents who vote by mail will become part of a "public database."

The Republican National Convention this week will feature addresses by some Michigan natives, but no GOP elected officials have been announced on the formal docket released by the President Trump campaign Sunday.

The Democratic National Convention held last week included speeches from several Democratic officeholders, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, state Rep. Mari Manoogian (D-Birmingham) and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

However, Michigan does not have any top statewide GOP officials. Both of Michigan’s U.S. senators are Democrats. Six of the 14 U.S. House members are Republicans. Republicans control both houses of the Legislature.

Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, a former Michigan GOP chair, is set to speak Monday. U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is slated for Thursday and acting director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell is scheduled for Wednesday. Both are Michigan natives. Additional speakers could be announced.

In an unusual move, Trump is scheduled to address the RNC every night.
