Another 2 Inches Of Snow Expected Across Metro Detroit Thursday

A winter weather advisory for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties​ was set to expire at 10 a.m. Thursday.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Another 2 inches of snow is possible across southeastern Michigan on Thursday morning, as the region woke up to a fresh coating of overnight snow and wind chills as low as -5 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties was set to expire at 10 a.m. Thursday, with another 2 inches of snow expected in those areas between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The additional snow will bring the total to 3-5 inches across most areas in southeastern Michigan by Thursday afternoon.

Forecasters warned the heavy snow bands will mainly cover areas between Michigan 59 and Interstate 94, with the strongest snow squalls centering in areas between Interstate 696 and Interstate 96.

Scattered snow showers will stick around in southeastern Michigan through the afternoon and evening hours Thursday, but forecasters are not expecting any more accumulations in the region, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will struggle to hit the 20s Thursday with strong winds with gusts reaching between 30 and 40 miles per hour keeping the real feel in the single digits, according to the weather service.

The cold temperatures will stick around through Friday as highs reaching the 20s with calmer winds and some sunshine across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.

After that, weekend temperatures across the region will warm into the upper 30s and 40s with chances for rain, according to the weather service.
