Bank of America Volunteers Help Pack 5,000 ‘Bountiful Boxes’ in partnership with Salvation Army

Food packages Will Go to Metro Detroit Families in Need This Holiday Season

WARREN — Holiday generosity was on full display on December 9, when more than 50 Bank of America employees volunteered at The Salvation Army Warren Corps Community Center, joining forces to pack 5,000 “Bountiful Boxes” filled with holiday meal essentials for families across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties.

The annual event, now in its 13th year, has become a beloved holiday tradition for Bank of America’s Detroit team. Supported by a $75,000 grant from Bank of America, the Bountiful Boxes program ensures that thousands of households can enjoy a complete holiday meal, including seasonal ingredients and a grocery gift card that allows families to select their preferred entrée.

“This partnership has become a holiday tradition we look forward to every year,” said Ed Siaje, President, Bank of America Detroit. “Bountiful Boxes is about more than food. It’s about showing families across southeast Michigan that their community cares. Our teammates look forward to rolling up their sleeves and helping to make the season a little brighter for thousands of local households.”

Volunteers worked in two shifts, from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., forming assembly lines to fill and stack meal boxes destined for distribution throughout metro Detroit. The energy was upbeat and purposeful, as teammates collaborated with Salvation Army staff to meet the program’s goal of preparing 5,000 boxes in a single day.

Each Bountiful Box includes a curated selection of shelf-stable foods to create a traditional holiday meal, along with a grocery store gift card that empowers families to choose the main entrée that best fits their traditions. Since launching the effort in 2013, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit has provided tens of thousands of holiday meals to the community. In 2024 alone, the organization served nearly 2.5 million meals to individuals and families in need.
