Boy, 7, Killed; Girl, 5, Hurt In Detroit Hit-And-Run Crash: Police

DETROIT — A 7-year-old boy was killed and his 5-year-old sister was injured in a hit-and-run crash caused by a suspected drunken driver in Detroit over the weekend, according to police.

A vehicle ran a red light and slammed into two other cars at the intersection of East Seven Mile and Mound roads at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Three adults and two children were inside one of the vehicles that was hit, according to police.

A 7-year-old boy was killed in the crash and his 5-year-old sister was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition, according to police.

The three adults suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to police.

The driver of the second car hit also suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to police.

The 25-year-old man who caused the crash initially left the scene, but returned to the scene nearly two hours after the crash, according to police.

Investigators determined alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to police.
