Why are you seeking elective office?

The people in the 4th District deserve a Council memeber who will work %100 in the interests of the constituents
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Crime or Lack of Public Safety!! The Residents and my neighbors should feel safe inside their homes. Reactivate Community patrolling, reopen the Recreation center with job training, activities, access to technology and a police mini station.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Bomani knows the resident’s issues and concerns in District#4. As the only candidate who has 8 years of council experience with former councilman and Ancestor Kwame Kenyatta. I am Unbought and Unbossed. The residents in District#4 are my boss, not the Mayor!

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

I’m not challenger right now, but I was 4 years ago. However, the current officeholder (councilman) has failed the community in District #4 for 8 years by not working on any of the issues that are the concerns of the residents. Issues like Community Benefits Agreement (CBA), Environmental racism with Fiat-Chrysler, reopening of the Maheras Recreation Center and Monteith Library.

How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently?

The local officials should have mailed out or made available on their website last year Corona Virus educational material with its Pros and Cons to all the residents. In addition, local officials send press releases to all radio stations in the City of Detroit.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

The City should reopen the Monteith neighborhood library.
Reopening our neighborhood recreation center with a job training and police mini station
Effective City Services for District #4
Effective Crime Prevention & Real Safety Policing Programs in District #4
Environmental Justice: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) plant has created serious health concerns for our neighborhoods especially bordering Beniteau Street.
Enforcement of Ordinances and Building Codes
We will all clean up District #4 and demand that all party store owners clean the outside around their building and hire residents living in District#4.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Bomani is a Retired Mental Health Social Worker with forty years experience. As a community activist/organizer for over thirty years, I know my community’s issues and concerns. I’m the former Executive Director of the Heritage Youth Program now the President for 24 years. We have collectively seen improvements with the Senior Citizens and our youth, who are the future leaders.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Never sell out the residents of the City of Detroit

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

District#4 deserves the right person to WORK on all their concerns and issues!! I'm the right candidate running who will work only for the residents living in District#4 !!
