Crash Closes Merriman Rd Near Detroit Metro Airport: Police

Police said a semi truck that was carrying water ran off Interstate 94 and ended up on Merriman​ Road.

ROMULUS, MI — Both directions of Merriman Road near Interstate 94 in Romulus were closed Tuesday afternoon after a crash involving a semi truck, according to police.

Officials said the driver of the semi truck lost control of the truck and struck the center median guardrail at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The truck continued down onto Merriman Road where it hit the median divider wall on the road and the trailer flipped over, according to police.

The driver of the semi truck was checked out on scene for minor injuries, according to police.

Police did not report any other injuries.

The road was closed in both directions and officials urged drivers heading to Detroit Metro Airport to use Interstate 275 and Eureka Road.

Police said the road will be closed for roughly two hours.
