Officer Charged For Drunk Driving Crash Killing Motorcyclist
A 30-year-old man on a motorcycle died after a local reserve officer reportedly crashed his truck into him this week.

DETROIT, MI — A Wayne County Sheriff's Department reserve officer has been charged in connection to a fatal motorcycle accident this week. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged officer Michael Davis, 58, with operating under the influence causing death (a 15-year felony), reckless driving causing death (a 15-year felony), moving violation causing death (a misdemeanor) and weapons possession under the influence (a misdemeanor).
Authorities say Davis was driving his truck near Grand River and Meyers in Detroit around 11:30 p.m. June 23 when he struck 30-year-old Daniel Starks, a Detroit resident who was riding his motorcycle. Starks reportedly sustained multiple injuries from the accident and died as a result of the accident.
Police said Davis had slurred speech at the scene of the accident and a flask in the front cup holder of his truck. He was also in possession of a gun, police said.

Davis was arraigned Tuesday afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman and was remanded to jail.
