DETROIT — Detroit drivers pay more money for car insurance than anyone else in the nation, according to a new report.
Bankrate's True Cost of Auto Insurance report found that Detroit drivers pay an average of $5,687 for full coverage per year. That equals roughly 8 percent of the median household income.
Car insurance for Detroit drivers is also roughly $1,500 higher than the second-most expensive city, which is Miami, according to the report.

On the other hand, Seattle has the cheapest car insurance with drivers paying an average of $1,759 per year on insurance, according to the report.
The national average is $4,338 for full coverage, according to the report.
