Detroit Man Leads Officers On Chase In Stolen U-Haul: Police

During the pursuit, police said the box truck driver tried to ram a patrol car and several officers​.

DETROIT — A Detroit man was arrested early Tuesday morning after leading police on a chase in a stolen U-Haul, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers were notified at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday to help Highland Park officers pursue the stolen box truck, police said.

During the pursuit, police said the box truck driver tried to ram a patrol car and several officers.

The chase ended when the driver of the U-Haul crashed into a pole on Massachusetts Street and John Road in Detroit, police said.

After the crash, police said the U-Haul driver ran into the backyard of a home on Massachusetts Street. Officers found him hiding in overgrown vegetation behind the home, police said.

The 34-year-old Detroit man was arrested in connection with the chase, police said.

Police did not report any injuries in the chase.

Police did not release the man's name as the investigation continues.
