MICHIGAN — The first measurable snowfall of the season across southeastern Michigan is likely this week amid a wild weather system, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will top out at 50 degrees early Wednesday afternoon across the region before gradually falling throughout the day with widespread rain showers, according to the weather service.

Gusty winds will pick up across the region and push temperatures below freezing by Wednesday evening as some areas begin to see snowflakes, according to the weather service.

Widespread snow showers will then move into southeastern Michigan early Thursday morning with wind chills in the 20s, according to the weather service.

Up to 1 inch of snow is possible across the region, and areas west of U.S. 23 can see more than 1 inch of fresh snow Thursday, according to the weather service.

The snow should move out of the region by Thursday evening before more rain moves into southeastern Michigan on Friday with highs hitting near 50 degrees, according to the weather service.

The weekend looks dry with seasonal highs in the upper 40s, according to the weather service.
