METRO DETROIT — Dozens of flights into and out of Detroit Metro Airport were canceled or delayed Thursday as a powerful winter storm moves into Michigan.
As of Friday morning, more than 300 flights were canceled at Detroit Metro Airport and another 55 were delayed, according to FlightAware.com. Travelers were encouraged to keep a close eye on their flight status.
Flight officials canceled dozens of flights out of Detroit Metro Airport into Chicago, as well as inbound flights from Chicago's airports. There were also cancelations farther west in Los Angeles and Dallas to Detroit as well.

Over 3.5 million Michiganders will travel 50 miles or more from home between Dec. 23, 2022, and Jan. 2, 2023, with 3.2 million people planning to travel by car, according to AAA. You can check for airport delays/cancelations here.
The entire state of Michigan is under a winter storm warning Thursday with several areas expecting blizzard-like conditions. Snowfall projections range from 10 to 15 inches of snow in the north and west to between 6 and 10 in the central and 3 to 7 in southeast Michigan.
