High Winds, Thunderstorms Thursday; Snow By Weekend

True to Michigan weather, we are in for a wild ride this week with storms, winds, snow and sleet.

METRO DETROIT, MI — A storm warning in in effect for metro Detroit with gusty winds expected throughout the area. The Hazardous Weather Outlook covers Wayne, Washtenaw, Lenawee and Monroe counties as of Thursday morning and winds of up to 40 mph are expected, forecasters warn. There will also be a chance of thunderstorms into the evening.

The weather will rapidly change this week with a chance for upcoming snowfall of at least an inch on Friday and other up to two inches by the weekend.

Thursday
Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. High near 54. East wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday night
Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then rain likely between 8pm and 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. Windy, with a west southwest wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 24 to 29 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday
Scattered snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 15 by 5pm. Wind chill values as low as -3. Windy, with a west southwest wind 24 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Wind chill values as low as -4. Breezy, with a west wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 24. West northwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 16.

Snow likely after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
