Inmate Found Dead At Detroit Detention Center, MSP Investigating
An investigation is underway after a 61-year-old inmate was found dead in his Detroit Detention Center cell Saturday morning.
DETROIT — The death of a 61-year-old inmate at the Detroit Detention Center Saturday morning is under investigation by the Michigan State Police, authorities said Monday.
A combined task force of Michigan State Police and Detroit Police detectives are investigating the death of the male inmate, which was reported around 9 a.m. Saturday, Michigan State Police officials said.
The inmate was found dead in his cell by an officer, The Detroit Free Press reported.

State police officials said Monday that detectives would be reviewing video and audio and interviewing witnesses. Authorities are awaiting the results of the medical examiner and a cause of death has not been released.
When the investigation is complete the report will be sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for review, officials said.
