The semi truck had a damaged fuel tank, which caused all of its diesel fuel, roughly 200 gallons, to leak across all lanes on the freeway, police said.

Troopers said the semi truck driver was not injured in the crash. Troopers do not know if the driver of the Saab was injured in the crash.

It was unclear how long the freeway would be closed for. Lanes were expected to reopen after officials cleared the roadway.

Drivers can reenter northbound M-10 from the M-10 Service Drive south of 9 Mile Road.

"This is another example of a driver turning a crash into something more serious," MSP Lt. Mike Shaw said. "If you are involved in a crash, stop and notify police. It really is that simple."
