Man Attacks Bus Driver Over Ticket Fare

Police say the bus driver was attacked by the angry rider, despite being offered a free ride.

DETROIT, MI — A 50-year-old Mount Clemens man faces charges after reportedly assaulting a bus driver over ticket fare Saturday night. Eric Dashawn Johnson, 23, has been charged with assault and battery after he was told his ticket had expired around 10 p.m. on June 30.

According to the report, the DDOT bus driver offered to override the ticket and give Johnson a free ride, but he reportedly punched the driver in the face, pulled him from the seat onto the floor and kicked him.

Johnson is accused of then fleeing the scene on foot. He was arrested nearby by Detroit police and is expected to be arraigned in the 36th District Court on Monday.
