METRO DETROIT — Are you looking to catch some local July 4th fireworks show this year? There’s plenty of booms to be heard around this time of year, but some displays stand out above the rest.
Here’s Patch’s roundup of some of the best shows around, complete with patriotic concerts, festival food, rooftop parties and family-friendly activities for a perfect summer day before the sky lights up at night.

The 2018 Ford Fireworks Show in Detroit
When: 9:55 p.m. June 25
Where: Hart Plaza along the Detroit River, 1 Hart Plaza
Admission: Free
Why go: The event includes music, a singing competition and some of the best rooftop parties around as barges on the Detroit River set off a spectacular display for America and Canada to see. It’s one of the most popular shows around.

2018 Rochester Festival of the Hills fireworks
When: 6 p.m. concert and 10:06 p.m. fireworks June 27
Where: Borden Park, 1400 East Hamlin Rd., Rochester Hills
Admission: Free; donations accepted
Why go: Held rain or shine, it’s a great evening of musical entertainment and dazzling lights in one of the biggest shows around Michigan.

2018 Greenfield Village Salute to America
When: June 30, July 1, July 3 and July 4
Where: Greenfield Village, Dearborn
Admission: Advanced ticket pricing ranges from $20.25 to $27, add $3 for day of event pricing. Members discounted.
Why go: Visitors enjoy an entire evening of music by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra with the classic 1812 Overture, a live cannon, and fireworks display as a finale during this four-day event.
Parking: $6 per vehicle for non-members, free for members

2018 Stars and Stripes Festival
When: July 3 (fireworks at 10 p.m.)
Where: Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave., in Novi
Admission: Fireworks are free; concert tickets cost $25-50.
Why go: Get in on a full day of activities, including a laser show, musical acts, a carnival and lots of festival foods to choose from.

2018 Grosse Pointe Farms Regatta and Fireworks
When: 10 p.m. fireworks show June 30
Where: Pier Park, 350 Lakeshore Drive
Admission: Free
Why go: The Regatta runs the weekend, celebrating life in the water before a brilliant show in the sky June 30. The “Soul Provider Band” is back for this year’s entertainment.

2018 Clinton Township Fireworks
When: Dusk on July 11
Where: Clinton Township Gazebo at the Civic Center, 40700 Romeo Plank Rd.
Admission: Free
Why go: This community celebration is completely free, thanks to the support of businesses in Clinton Township. Count us in!

2018 Stony Creek Metropark Fireworks
When: Dusk June 22; food vendors starting at 5 p.m.; DJ at 7 p.m.; fireworks at 10 p.m.
Where: Stony Creek Metropark, 4300 Main Park Rd., Shelby Township.
Admission: A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark and is only $35 annually for regular admission, $21 annually for seniors or $10 daily.
Why go: Fireworks at the Metroparks is a five county celebration that has been a tradition for years that provides a safe and exciting way for the community to celebrate our nation’s birthday, while enjoying the natural beauty of the Metroparks.
