Michigan Adds Fewer Than 500 New Coronavirus Cases Monday

The state added one new coronavirus death, increasing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 6,325.

MICHIGAN — Michigan reported fewer than 500 new coronavirus cases Monday, the fewest number of new cases the state has reported since Aug. 2.

State health officials confirmed 465 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the statewide case total to 93,185. The state added one new coronavirus death, increasing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 6,325.

Monday's update comes after Michigan had reported more than 1,000 new cases without citing a testing back log on Saturday and Thursday.

Michigan ranks 18th in the U.S. in coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. California, Florida and Texas lead the nation in cases. Michigan ranks ninth in coronavirus deaths.

The U.S. has reported over 5.5 million coronavirus cases as of Monday, according to the World Health Organization. The nation has seen more than 173,000 deaths attributed to the virus, while 2.9 million recoveries have been reported in the U.S.

The number of coronavirus cases reported around the world is closing in on 22 million, with the World Health Organization reporting 21.9 million cases as of Monday morning. That number includes 775,000 deaths and more than 14.6 million recoveries. Over 6.4 million cases remain active.
