Over 8,000 Total Coronavirus Cases Reported In Detroit

DETROIT, MI — The city health department has reported 100 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the citywide total to more than 8,000.

The majority of the city's reported coronavirus cases are of people between 60-69 years old, according to the city health department. The health department said over 55 percent of Detroit residents who have reportedly contracted the virus are female. More than 64 percent of Detroit residents who have been reported to have coronavirus are black, according to city data.
Reported Deaths Due to Coronavirus in Detroit
Most of Detroit's coronavirus deaths are people in their 70s, with over 27 percent of the city's reported deaths being people between 70-79, according to city provided data. The health department reported that over 54 percent of the city's coronavirus deaths are men. More than 75 percent of the reported coronavirus deaths in Detroit are African Americans, the data showed.
