Popular Burger Joint Opens New Metro Detroit Location

A popular fast-casual burger joint opened a new metro Detroit location last week.

ROMULUS, MI — A popular fast-casual burger joint opened a new metro Detroit location last week.

Smashburger, known for touting its certified Angus Beef burgers, opened a new spot inside the McNamara Terminal’s Gate B19 last Saturday.

In addition to its classic burgers, such as the Classic Smash, All American Smash and Bacon Stack Smash, the DTW location will also offer a breakfast menu designed for those on the move. The breakfast menu will include bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches and new grab-and-go breakfast wraps.

The opening is part of Smashburger’s plans for "growth in travel hubs," for those on the go.

"Detroit is a city with deep culture and energy, and we're proud to bring our bold, best-in-class burgers to its travelers," Smashburger President Jim Sullivan said. "This opening reflects our commitment to making Smashburger more accessible in high-traffic, high-opportunity spaces like airports, arenas, and beyond."

DTW's Smashburger will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Smashburger has more than 200 restaurants across 31 states and seven countries.

The opening comes as multiple other shops and restaurants are expected to gradually open at the airport over the next few years.

Wahlburgers is also opening a restaurant at the airport next week.
