Man Arraigned In Wayne County Quadruple Homicide Case

The man is facing four murder charges and four weapons charges.

DETROIT, MI — A 37-year-old man is facing several felony charges in connection with the murder of four people in Sumpter Township Saturday.

Raymond Lee Bailey, of Kinross, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of felony firearm, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Wednesday. He was arraigned Wednesday morning.

“The allegations in this case are the quintessential example of domestic victimology," Worthy said. "As a result, four people are now tragically deceased. We clearly understand the social psychology of the domestic violence victim and we strive mightily to support them. So please, if you are a victim of domestic violence, help is available. Worthy said Sumpter Township police received a 911 call around 12:30 p.m. Saturday and arrived to a home in the 24900 block of Martinsville Road in Belleville, where they found four people shot to death.

The victims were later identified by police as Laura Tanner and her sister Sarah Grupa, of Detroit, and Forrest and Neal Sampson, both of Van Buren Township, prosecutors said.

Following the killings, Sumpter Township Police said they received a tip that Bailey was on the run in Bay City. On Sunday, Bailey turned himself in to Bay County Sheriff's deputies and was then transported to the Sumpter Township Police Department, prosecutors said.
