Highest accumulations will be along M-59, lesser totals near the Ohio border.
A burst of snow switched over to rain overnight across much of the Detroit area, making for a messy Wednesday morning commute. More than 400 schools in the area were closed.
The rain will continue through the morning hours in areas south of M-59 before changing back to snow when temperatures start falling in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
By Wednesday evening, those areas could see 1 to 4 inches of wet snow, with higher accumulations along M-59 and lesser totals near the Ohio border, the weather service said.
