Second Driver Dies In Wrong-Way Crash On Detroit Freeway: Police
Police said a Jeep was moving the wrong-way on the freeway early Friday morning when it collided head-on with an SUV.
DETROIT — The second driver in a wrong-way fiery crash on a Detroit freeway last week has died, according to police.
A Jeep was moving north in the southbound lanes on the Lodge Freeway near Grand River Avenue in Detroit at 4:30 a.m. last Friday when it smashed into an SUV, which then caught fire, according to police.
Troopers tried to get into the SUV, but they couldn’t because it was engulfed in flames, according to police.

When firefighters put out the blaze, troopers found the driver dead, according to police.
Troopers were able to pull a 27-year-old woman from the driver’s seat of the Jeep, according to police.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition, before she died the next day, according to police.
There were no passengers in either car, according to police.
Investigators do not know why the Jeep was moving the wrong way on the freeway.
