Suspected Drunk Driver Hits, Kills Construction Worker On I-75

One construction worker is dead and another injured after an SUV rolled on top of them in Detroit.

DETROIT, MI — A woman believed to be under the influence of alcohol reportedly struck two construction workers in Detroit early Thursday morning, killing one of them, according to reports. The northbound lanes I-75 were shut down near I-94 in downtown Detroit overnight, diverting traffic to Warren Avenue when the crash happened.

The red SUV reportedly rolled multiple times in the construction zone and rolled onto one of the workers, who were hooking up a trailer to a Ford pickup on the right shoulder. Both workers were contracted through private companies, according to reports.

The driver was taken into custody and police say she was likely under the influence of alcohol. No other information is known at this time.
