Weekend Weather: Storms, Flooding Possible As Rain Moves Through

Flooding could cause minor property damage this weekend as thunderstorms pass through the region. Here's the full forecast.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — A hazardous weather outlook has been issued across southeastern Michigan as storms and possible flooding pass through the area. According to the National Weather Service, heavy rainfall and moderate storms are ahead this weekend and the water level, combined with high wave action, has the potential to result in minor shoreline flooding and erosions. Water levels are predicted to rise to 70 inches this afternoon and minor property damage from the flooding may be possible.

The chance of thunderstorms this weekend will result from an influx of moisture associatedwith a low pressure system tracking across the Ohio Valley.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms between 11am and noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 71. East wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday night
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 65. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. East southeast wind around 6 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday night
A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then a chance of showers between 8pm and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. North northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. North northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
