11K Without Power Across Metro Detroit After Thunderstorms: DTE Energy

High heat and Thursday morning storms knocked out power to over 11,000 DTE customers around metro Detroit.

METRO DETROIT — High heat and Thursday morning storms knocked out power to over 11,000 DTE customers around metro Detroit.

The largest outages were in Livingston and western Oakland counties, including Green Oak Township and Novi. Officials also asked power to avoid the Interstate 96 and Grand River Avenue area because of downed power lines.

There were also large outages in the Dearborn and Melvindale area, as well as the northeast section of Detroit.

Temperatures were expected to reach the low 90s Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

However, meteorologists do not expect any more storms to roll through the metro Detroit area on Thursday.
