John Cowley & Sons Revises Post-Fire Opening Estimate

The downtown Farmington restaurant will not be open in time for the Harvest Moon celebration, or a planned Sept. 28 ice rink fundraiser.

In a weekend post on Facebook, John Cowley & Sons announced that the fire-damaged restaurant may not re-open in time for downtown Farmington's Harvest Moon celebration

Firefighters were called to the restaurant at 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 6; the fire started in the restaurant's wood-fired grill and moved up through a vent.  No one was injured, and Farmington city council member Greg Cowley last week credited the quick response from Farmington Public Safety with minimizing damage to his family's iconic Grand River pub.

Cowley said Monday that the family still hopes to have the restaurant open by Friday, but at the latest, Sept. 30. A planned Saturday fundraiser for a new ice rink that will be installed in Riley Park this winter is being rescheduled.
