A Fairytale Beginning

Liz Kasha, founder of Twinkle Lights and Cornbread, has always had a passion for farmhouse and country inspired events and décor, as well as a deep love for creative writing.

A few years back, while vacationing in Nashville, she came across a t-shirt in a souvenir window that said "Country as Cornbread" and the southern saying stuck with her.

The idea of launching her own décor and events company had always vividly danced around in her mind, but somehow, the timing was never quite right, until one magical moment.

When she returned home, she was hanging a string of twinkling Edison lights on her back porch when suddenly, and perhaps with a little help from a farmhouse fairy Godmother (hey, they could exist) it came to her. What better way to describe her love for all things whimsical, twinkly and topped with a southern twist than "Twinkle Lights and Cornbread."

The next day, she purchased the domain name and set up her Instagram page and website.

In addition to designing in-person events for her clients in Southeast Michigan, Liz also creates whimsical set-ups and links the various pieces she used to give fans of the farmhouse genre the ability to recreate some of her original designs!

Each of her designs embodies an enchanting, rustic wonderland theme and is accompanied with a fairytale story that creatively personifies each piece she uses. It's as if she brings to life each of her designs by taking fans on a magical, storytelling journey through her whimsical words.

One of her most recent designs below, titled "The Sweet Shop," combines traditional elements of the farmhouse genre like a boho beaded swing, rustic crates, and hand-painted wooden signs, while adding her own charming twist.

She personified the above design with these captivating words...

"The sun that day was a brilliant lantern, casting the everyday hues of the countryside Sweet Shop into sugared glows. The streets of the town had been added as petals to a sugar-flower, for they arched in organic swirls around the town shop. Baked goods of every kind layer the counter, blooming upon the shelves like flowers in a meadow. The sweet treats, a triumph of sugar and flour, cover the cooling racks, golden domes perfectly crackled on the surface just as the earth is in mid-summer. Once cooled, fluffy frosting hugs the treats while sprinkles flutter like confetti, swirling in the aromatic air, before landing perfectly on a blanket of buttercream."

Her Whimsical "Why"

If you ask Liz her reason behind fusing her two passions of events and writing, her answer is quite simple.

"Country style is a commitment to a simpler way of life, an appreciation for the small things, their character and the story behind them. A bench, can just be a bench. Flowers, can just be flowers. Bells, can just be bells. But when you take all of those elements and turn them into captivating characters with their own story to tell, you are able to draw people in and make them feel like they are part of your scene and story, as if they are sitting right on that bench, looking up at the swaying flowers and the sparkling night sky, while watching the bells take their final bow. I want people to connect with my event designs on a deeper level, and perhaps for a brief, but enchanting, moment in time, feel as if they are standing in the middle of their very own farmhouse fairytale."
