'I’m Going To Fall Over': Oakland County Man Wins $6M On Scratch-Off Ticket

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — An Oakland County man thought he was going to fall over after winning a $6 million prize on a scratch-off ticket, according to Michigan Lottery officials.

The lucky 36-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning $300,000,000 Extraordinaire ticket at the BP of Farmington Hills, located at 29434 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills, according to lottery officials.

"I play scratch-off tickets here and there," the man told lottery officials.

He said when he bought the ticket he decided to scratch the barcode and scan it in the store before leaving. That's when he got a message to file a claim at the lottery office, so he finished scratching the ticket at home, according to lottery officials.

"When I saw it was a $6 million winning ticket, I kept saying: ‘I’m going to fall over!’ Winning this amount of money is such a blessing," the man told lottery officials.

He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount, according to lottery officials.
