This New Oakland County Wedding Planner Says She Can Save You Money

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A new wedding planning consultancy in Farmington Hills is looking to help couples tie the knot without a daunting price tag.

Signed and Sealed owner Kelly Schultz told Patch she offers a model that is different from most full-service wedding planners, who can be quite costly.

Schultz said she offers a unique alternative called "planning support," in which she will serve as the couple’s consultant through the planning process (up to 14 months), with monthly video meetings and unlimited email communications.

During each meeting, she will help the couple stay on track so that no tasks are overlooked during the planning process.

"It’s an ideal option for couples who are excited about planning their wedding but feel like they have no idea where to start," Schultz said. "To put it another way, couples can consider me their biggest cheerleader, personal secretary and trusted confidante rolled into one."

In addition to planning support, Schultz also offers a comprehensive range of services and tools to help with other planning needs, such as:

• Other virtual planning packages such as timeline creation, ceremony writing, photo shot list consultation, and wedding website creation
• Onsite event support including officiant services, wedding coordination, and decor set-up and teardown
• Support with other events, such as baby showers, wedding showers or birthday parties
• Downloadable tools and templates to help those planning a wedding stay organized

Signed and Sealed also uses social media to produce a series of videos and posts with money-saving ideas that can help couples with the planning process. One post, which Schultz cited as her favorite so far, outlined eight wedding planning tasks that couples can turn into fun dates.

"I was proud of that one because I think it’s very important for couples to work as a team during the planning process and remember that their love for each other is the most central element to the wedding," Schultz said.

Schultz, a South Lyon native, launched Signed and Sealed in early April after spending five years living in New York City. She said living in New York City was an amazing experience both personally and professionally, but chose Farmington Hills because her heart has always been in Oakland County.

"There are so many unique venues here to suit any style, from elegant banquet halls, to conservatories, to gorgeous golf courses and barns," Schultz said. "We are also near enough to Detroit for couples looking for a more urban setting, and also to Ann Arbor which has dozens of options as well."
