Thank You from the Ferndale City Clerk

A message from Ferndale City Clerk Cherilynn Tallman:

โ€œI want to thank the residents for their patience last Tuesday, and for their commitment to exercise their right to vote despite lines at some polls that at times exceeded a 2 hours wait.

We are committed to providing residents with a betterย  voting experience, and over the next several weeks we will be evaluating our election process for ways to improve service and reduce wait times in the future. Our Office will report on these process improvements as they develop, and we also welcome the feedback and suggestions of our residents.

Despite the long wait times, Election Day also offered several highlights:

  • More than half the population of Ferndale participated in the election; 10,399 voters โ€“ nearly 64% of those registered โ€“ cast ballots.
  • A dedicated team of more than 70 election workers helped conduct an election that I am confident was both transparent and accurate.
  • Increased absentee voting can help reduce wait times, and 2,056 voters chose that option this year.
  • The community again supported our efforts, including our friends at Buffalo Wild Wings, who once again donated dinner for precinct inspectors, AV counting board members, and city hall staff.โ€
