Ferndale's Iconic Star Sign Dims Forever

Como’s Restaurant will shutter for good, the Ferndale mainstay announced yesterday. Thursday, Dec 28 marked the end of a 66-year era for the Italian joint at Woodward and Nine Mile in Ferndale. According to the Detroit News, Michigan Restaurant Liquidations and Auctions plans to auction more pf Como’s items. These restaurant staples include comment things like booths and pizza ovens, but also the restaurant’s famous lighted β€œstar” sign.

This particular treasure in among the Como’s pieces set to go under the auctioneer’s hammer - well, the hammer’s online equivalent - Jan. 11, In recent years, the restaurant known for extra-large pizza became synonymous with health code violations, and signs on the door there say that the business will not reopen.
