Drifter Coffee To Open Brick-and-Mortar Space in Ferndale

Drifter Coffee, a roving business contained in a classic Airstream trailer, has leased space in Ferndale for a permanent new coffee shop.

Drifter Coffee plans a serious investment in Ferndale in 2018. Alleah Webb, who started the mobile coffee purveyor in 2015, told Eater that her plan for the shop at 780 Woodward Heights has been approved by the city of Ferndale.

The 1,600-square-foot space will be designed by Five/Eighths Architecture, and Webb has ambitious plans for a greenhouse-like space at the back of the building for where patrons can sip coffee while the business roasts beans. The new space should seat 40 to 45, both downstairs at the coffee bar, and upstairs in a cozy space where people can really take their time over a special cup of joe. Construction starts March 1, and Webb hopes to open by early June.
