Ferndale To Install LGBT Pride Flag

The LGBT flag will be permanently installed Monday at Ferndale's city council chambers.

FERNDALE, MI β€” The LGBT pride flag will be permanently installed in Ferndale city council chambers Monday evening. The rainbow-colored flag will take its place alongside flags representing the United States, the state of Michigan, Oakland County, the city of Ferndale and POW-MIAs, according to a Royal Oak Daily Tribune report.

A number of LGBT local leaders will attend the ceremony that will start at 7 p.m. at 300 E. Nine Mile Road. Ferndale Mayor Dave Counter told the newspaper the LGBT community’s efforts in revitalizing Ferndale is one reason why the flag is being installed.
β€œI also believe that our inclusion of the LGBT community is symbolic of our broader desire to be a welcoming community for all people, regardless of age, race, orientation or immigration status.”
