Ferndale To Partner With Build Institute For Networking Events
The city of Ferndale will offer networking events in March and April with BUILD Institute, a Detroit nonprofit aimed at job development.

The City of Ferndale announced it will partner with Build Institute to host Open City: The Art of Networking, at Rust Belt Market March 7. The event, which takes place from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., will include dialogue and panel discussion focused networking. The partnership between Build and the city kicked off in December with the first networking event at Rust Belt.
Panelists for the March 7 event include Dan Riley, president of Axle Brewing Co.; Cheryl Salinas-Tucker, owner of Rouge Makeup and Nail Studio; Javier Evelyn, CEO of Alerje; Matt Zook, director of Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce; and Heather Coleman-Voss, business services coordinator for Ferndale Michigan Works. Ferndale Mayor David Coulter will serve as the event’s moderator, and the focus will be how people can use networking to improve their professional and business brands and increase opportunities. The panelists will share personal stories and tips, according to a statement from the city.
Open City: The Art of Networking is the debut event in a three-part series, “Spring Fling into Networking.” The other events in the series include a 30-second first impression workshop at the Ferndale Area District Library March 21, and Networking with an Axe” on April 4 at The Corner Grill, Bar + Game Room, a new Ferndale restaurant and nightspot with an axe-throwing gallery.
