HenriettaHaus Coffee Roasters Takes Second Place in Hatch Detroit Voting

The Rust Belt Market vendor was among the top four contestants; Batch Brewing Company takes top spot, $50,000 prize.

HenriettaHaus Coffee Roasters, a vendor at The Rust Belt Market in Ferndale, took second place Thursday inΒ the 2013 ComericaΒ Hatch DetroitΒ contest.

Voters' No. 1 pick wasΒ Batch Brewing Company, which willΒ receiveΒ a $50,000 grand prize courtesy of Comerica Bank, as well as a suite of professional services fromΒ HatchΒ Detroit sponsors. The announcement was madeΒ Aug. 29 at the Madison Building in Detroit.

Hatch Detroit is a small business incubator that lets voters determine which contestant will receive funding, exposure, education and mentoring.

"Just so you know, you got us to second place. That is not too shabby,"Β HenriettaHaus Coffee RoastersΒ posted on Facebook. "Thank you all so much for the support!"

The other finalists wereΒ Corktown Cinema andΒ Spielhaus Toys.

β€œWe’re so thrilled to have had so many great business ideas compete in this year’s competition and the support we’ve received from the public has been tremendous,” said Nick Gorga, co-founder ofΒ HatchΒ Detroit said in a press release.
