Find Local Road Construction Projects on New Map
State map shows dates and locations of major MDOT road and bridge projects.

Planning your summer roadtrips, or just want to know when you should take a different route to work?
A state highway construction map for 2013 is now available from the Michigan Department of Transportation that shows drivers where and when road and bridge projects are occurring across the state.
The free annual map - called "Paving the Way" - is available at all MDOT Transportation Service Centers, regional offices, Welcome Centers and most state rest areas.

"MDOT publishes this map to prepare Michigan motorists for the construction season ahead," State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle said in a press release. "It's a good time to also remind everyone to slow down and pay attention when driving through work zones on major state routes and county roads alike."
Steudle reminds drivers, "If you see orange, slow down."

"That way, you'll keep yourself and your passengers, construction workers and other motorists safe," he said in the release.
The map details construction on state routes in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Lansing, providing maps specific to these areas. You can view a PDF of the map attached to this article, or download it from the MDOT's "Maps and Publications" site.

Real-time traffic info
Drivers can get real-time traffic information about planned and unplanned lane closures on the MDOT Mi Drive traffic data web site, along with camera images of major state routes, rates of speed, incidents on area freeways and more.
You can access Mi Drive from your computer, smartphone or mobile device at www.michigan.gov/drive.
