Run 4 A Reason Hits the Pavement in Ferndale

Did you see women in red dresses running down your street over the weekend?

There is a perfectly logical reason, Ferndale: Several participants in the Run 4 A Reason fundraiser Saturday morning donned colorful, festive attire for the 10K run and 5K run/walk that began at Affirmations and headed west through the neighborhood.

Proceeds from Run 4 A Reason will benefit the following organizations.

• Affirmations Community Center
• Ruth Ellis Center
• Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion
• Higher Ground
• Equality Michigan
• Michigan Diversity Council
• Jewish Gay Network

"It's all about equality, diversity and bringing the community together," said Gia Cilento, vice president of the LGBT social and activity club GOAL! Get Out And Live!, which organized the race.
