Shop Small and Win Cash the Day After Thanksgiving
Oakland County is rolling out incentives to promote local shopping.

FERNDALE, MI — Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson came to the Modern Natural Baby store in downtown Ferndale on Thursday to announce new programs based on the American Express “Shop Small” campaign to promote shopping local. One of the programs announced was a contest where local shoppers could win cold hard cash — up to $5,000.
Patterson's enthusiasm for shopping local was apparent, pointing out that there are 32 downtowns in the county. “We’re going to do our utmost in supporting small business shopping on the Saturday after Thanksgiving,” he said.
Patterson explained that the goal of the contest was to give shoppers an additional incentive to shop local on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
