1. Communities First, Inc. (CFI) hopes to bring festive cheer local residents of all ages Dec. 22 (theflintcouriernews.com) — Families in Flint are invited to a free Communities First, Inc. holiday party on Monday, Dec. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CFI Center on Bristol Road. Kids and adults can enjoy crafts, reindeer games, music, lunch, treats, giveaways, and visits from Santa, Mrs. Claus, and singing puppets, with no cost and optional pre-registration online.
   

2. Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance awards 25 small business grants (mlive.com) — Small businesses in Flint and across Genesee County just received a boost, with 25 local companies awarded grants from the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance’s Small Business Support Hub. The funding supports startups, micro, and small businesses with costs like equipment, marketing, and licensing. Flint-based ventures such as Flint Michigan Films and Flint Trading Co. are among the recipients.
   

3. Flint pushes for Genesee commissioners vote on millage funding for senior center (mlive.com) — Flint officials are pressing Genesee County commissioners to finally vote on millage funding for the city-run Mays Senior and Community Service Center, renamed for the late Councilman Eric Mays. After an earlier application was deemed incomplete, the city has updated budgets and resubmitted its request. The outcome could affect services at both the Mays and McKinley centers serving Flint seniors.
   

4. Former St. Pius X campus reborn as recovery-focused community hub in Flint Township (midmichigannow.com) — A former St. Pius X church and gym in Flint Township is being transformed into a recovery-focused community hub by New Paths Inc., offering sober events and gathering space for people in recovery. With Flint and Genesee County facing high vulnerability to substance use disorders, the renovated campus will host concerts, trainings, and social activities, giving residents a safe, substance-free place to connect.
   

5. FIM receives $25k grant to support new music, performance for Independence Day celebration (eastvillagemagazine.org) — Flint residents can look forward to a special Fourth of July celebration next summer, boosted by a $25,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant to FIM. The funding supports a new orchestral fanfare by Flint native Jonathan Bailey Holland, performed by local youth and professional orchestras alongside visiting musicians from France as part of an all-day downtown event with live entertainment and fireworks.
