Grosse Pointe Shores Police Help Motorist

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Grosse Pointe Shores police assisted a 63-year-old Warren man May 2 originally stopped for suspected drunken driving after it was discovered he was having diabetic problems. The man was weaving in and out of his lane of traffic in the 500 block of Lake Shore. The officer stopped him and he was confused and disoriented. A portable breath test showed the man did not have alcohol in his system. While talking to the man, it was discovered he had diabetes. The officer called for a paramedic to respond and take the man to the hospital, according to a report.

Wife Files Report About Husband 

A 45-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman reported to police that she awoke to a gun lying next to her in her bed April 26. She filed the report May 2, noting that she told her husband she wanted a divorce in the summer of 2012. She has not pursued anything thus far but wanted to document his behavior when he is drinking alcohol, which she describes as aggressive. The husband, she reported, told her sister he was going to kill her. He recently showed where she was housesitting armed with a knife. When her friend returned home, the man threw the knife and left. Then she woke to find the gun next to her and she wants to seriously pursue the divorce, according to a report.

Teen Arrested After Battering Mother

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 14-year-old resident May 2 after he attacked his mother inside their home because she took a cell phone away from him. The teen became enraged when she took the cell phone away, followed her to another room and pushed her onto a bed. He then struck her about the head with his hands. She and her father fought him off of her and then she hid in the bathroom with other children in the house. At one point she came out to find him running toward her armed with a knife and a cooking fork. When officers arrived at the house, the teen was running out. He was stopped and he explained he was crying because his mother hit him but she deserved to do so because he believed he hurt her. The mother also reported he threatened to kill her during the situation, according to a report.
