Grosse Pointe Woods’ Policy Requires Photos For Children

City Hall Pics Mandatory For Kids' Park Use

Children - and all residents of Grosse Pointe Woods over the age of 8 - must now report to City Hall to have a picture taken that the city’s computer system will link with the residents’ city-issued park passes. The city requires residents to use a pass to access Lake Front Park. The 55-acre campus is technically across the border in St. Clair Shores but owned and run by Grosse Pointe Woods for use by Woods residents only. The park has a pool, a marina and lake access, and residents are welcome to bring guests.

While some citizens decried this move as overly invasive, at least one Woods denizen told the Mercury News he’s all for the photo policy. New Grosse Pointe Woods resident David Tumpkin told the paper: “They are trying to keep the riff-raff out. I am fine with that.”
